Lakewood Holiday Bonus Review

Lakewood Brewing Co. of Garland, Texas was thinking of the lucky few who receive a holiday bonus check. Maybe you’re not one of them, but with Holiday Bonus festive Porter you can feel like it.

Holiday bonus or is dark dark brown with a very light tan then head. It’s smells of sweet burnt candy sugar, caramel malts and chocolate. The flavors overflow as it warms. Semi-sweet chocolate, orange, berries, all with a bitter roast malt porter finish. It is 41 IBU, but the chocolate roast malts up the bitterness of the hops. The alcohol registers at 6.6% and seems fair.

Lakewood Brewing has only been in operation since August of 2012, yet are producing an interesting line of beers. Holiday Bonus was a nice treat for a porter with a twist.

While it's difficult to picture Santa as a young man, he was once. He met the future Mrs. Claus one snowy night when she offered him a winter ale that she brewed herself. It was love at first sight - for both the Mrs. and her winter ales. With Santa's growing fame, his favorite brews became named after his favorite day - Christmas. Santa now travels the world each year to spread the joy that began in a stable in Bethlehem two millennia ago.
