AleSmith YuleSmith Winter Holiday Ale Review

AleSmith’s YuleSmith is an Imperial Double red ale. It’s packed with hops and carmel malts for a delicious winter treat.

YuleSmith pours the color of a fox, ginger with a light head of foam that reduces to light lace. There are hops, pine and citrus on the nose. The hops do not overpower, as the nose would suggest. Instead, the malts balance the hops, bringing out sweet pine, a touch of caramel, and orange zest. The 8.5% ABV alcohol is well incorporated.

AleSmith Brewing Company releases versions of YuleSmith in summer and winter each year. The summer version has stronger hops and less malts.

Grab a bottle of YuleSmith Winter Holiday Ale if you want you want a hop-forward, full-flavored beer.

While it's difficult to picture Santa as a young man, he was once. He met the future Mrs. Claus one snowy night when she offered him a winter ale that she brewed herself. It was love at first sight - for both the Mrs. and her winter ales. With Santa's growing fame, his favorite brews became named after his favorite day - Christmas. Santa now travels the world each year to spread the joy that began in a stable in Bethlehem two millennia ago.
