Brewery Rinkuškiai is a family held brewery in Lithuania. Brewing since 1991, Missing Elf is their Christmas beer. The label says it’s a Double Bock.
Missing Elf pours golden with quarter inch white, fine head that reduces quickly to some lacing. The bright golden color doesn’t match the beer style, and neither does the aroma. It smells sweet with apples and candi sugar. Some malts on the nose but not enough that anyone would guess dopplebock is the style.
It tastes sweet, sugary, followed by light grainy malts with a bit of bread yeast and caramel. The 9.5% ABV stays hidden behind the sweet malts.
The label is the most interesting, if sacrilegious, feature. Santa is nailing a “Missing Elf” sign to a tree, apparently unaware that the missing elf has been sat on and stuffed up Santa’s behind. A thought that made all my elves shutter but the reindeer laugh so hard they cried. As for me, I’m watching where I sit.
